Gary W. Berkeley, P. Eng., PE, Principal

After obtaining his BASc in Civil-Structural Engineering from UBC, Gary spent several years designing precast / prestressed concrete structures, pre-engineered metal buildings and conventional building structures. In 1982 Gary was introduced to the commercial glazing industry in Vancouver by a prominent local glazing contractor and decided this was the field where he wanted to specialize. Since 1991 he has practised exclusively in the commercial glazing industry, specializing in high rise curtain wall and structural glazing, primarily in BC and Washington State.

Gary believes in appropriate project-specific design solutions, through close consultation and cooperation with the glazing contractor and project design team. He has designed many glass guards, canopies, fin and spider-supported walls ("structural" glass walls) and glass floors & stairs. Notable local projects include the Shangri-La Tower, Bentall V, Fairmont Pacific Rim and the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Gary has also been active in the industry associations, serving as Technical Committee Chair for the GCABC from 1995 through 1999, and participating in the SEABC's seminars on the Structural Use of Glass.

Manny Domingues, AscT & Draftsperson

Manny graduated from the Building Technologies Program at BCIT in 1990. After a brief time working in the Architectural field, Manny began his career in the Glazing industry that has spanned 26 years. Starting as an estimator, Manny progressed through sales, project management and operations management roles in the Commercial Glazing industry.

In 2017, Manny joined the team at Berkeley Vadocz Engineering Inc. With his extensive and varied experience in the Glazing industry, Manny adds a unique element and perspective to the BVE team. As an Engineering Technologist, Manny performs BVE’s Field Reviews, prepares the corresponding reports and supports our structural engineering design team and drafting department.

Robyn Nakagawa, BComm

Robyn earned her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Guelph. After graduating, she worked in the Logistics Industry for 7 years, in Sales and Account Management roles. She also took on many A/R duties during her Account Management role.

After having her 2 beautiful children, Robyn was looking for a career change and decided to pursue a new career in Operations Management. She has been working with BVE since 2012. In her role as Director of Operations, Robyn oversees daily operations of the office, HR, Payroll, A/R, A/P, invoicing, marketing and all other administrative and accounting duties.

David Vadocz, P.Eng., Principal

After his graduation from BCIT and then Lakehead University, David worked as a Structural Engineer where he performed a variety of design and structural engineering activities on industrial warehouses, residential apartment buildings, and commercial buildings. Following that, David moved on to specialize in glazing and seismic restraint design. He has specific skills in the following areas: structural modeling/programming using finite element methods; performing linear and nonlinear analysis; using multiple methods to analyze glazing applications; designing of structures and designing of structures for seismic effects. The additional asset of having structural experience that encompasses the design of full buildings enables him to better understand and design the specialized components within the building structure.
